Bear Lake Lodging & Winter Activities at Water’s Edge Resort
Bear Lake Lodging & Winter Activities:
Everyone knows Bear Lake is the destination of choice for many families in the summer. But have you ever been there in the winter? Today we are going to give you a little idea of what you’re missing this year!
2017 Brings Record Snow Fall
What does a hard winter mean for Bear Lake, Utah? Well, it sure brings a lot of winter sport enthusiasts our way. Winter activities are at an all time high due to the record snow fall.
With several feet of fresh powder on our local mountains snowboarders, skiers, and snowmobilers are in heaven. We’ve received so much snow that the Division of Wildlife Resources has had to manually feed the wildlife at Bear Lake to keep them from the roads. The last time the DWR had to do this was back in 2008!
So, let’s get back to the main question: “What does all this snow mean?” Water levels in Bear Lake will be high for summer activities. You can be sure that your Bear Lake vacation will be one to remember this summer. We’ve also seen an increase of vacationers this winter and can’t wait for them to stay at our Waters Edge Resort, the newest Bear Lake Hotel, next year!
Continuing Construction
Trying to build Bear Lake’s newest restaurant, Cody’s Gastro Garage, during this hard winter has become a bit tricky. How are we staying on schedule with all this snowfall at the Water’s Edge Resort? Being innovative!
Have you guys heard of “The Bubble”? Thanks to Sturdy Structures, LLC, we now know what “The Bubble” is and how it works. They took a basic construction tarp and sewed multiple pieces together to make it big enough to cover the whole construction site. Add some heaters blowing hot air and you have a structure that gives them the ability to pour concrete in the below-freezing temperatures. It also prevents snow and ice from compromising the new concrete and makes it a comfortable workplace at a whopping 70 degrees.
Let’s just say our workers are happy to have a break from the cold! Record snow fall and freezing temperatures won’t stop us from getting the job done!
